About Bird and Bear Psychology

At Bird and Bear Psychology, we believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they can feel heard, understood, and accepted.
Our practice is inspired by the symbolism of the bird and the bear. The bird represents growth, possibility, and the courage to move forward, while the bear symbolises safety, resilience, and steady support. Together, they capture the heart of our approach to therapy, a place where you can feel supported through life's challenges while discovering your own capacity to heal and thrive.
We provide secure Telehealth appointments across Australia, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort of your own space. We work with adolescents (ages 14+), young adults, and adults, providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy tailored to your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions, we'll work alongside you to help you better understand yourself, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
— Carl Rogers
Our Approach
Person-Centred
Being person‑centred means you are at the heart of everything we do. We take the time to understand your story, your values and what matters most to you. Together, we work at your pace, focusing on your strengths and goals, so therapy is collaborative, respectful and genuinely tailored to you.
Evidence-Based
We utilise evidence-based techniques to help you identify and change negative thought patterns, fostering resilience and emotional regulation. This includes a range of therapeutic interventions including CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, CBT-e and SSCM and more specific interventions based on your goals.
Telehealth
Providing a seamless, professional clinical environment through secure video sessions, ensuring accessibility and comfort when you need it most. At the moment Bird and Bear is exclusively Telehealth-based, with plans to expand to in-person in the future.

Kaylee Spiller
Director | Clinical Psychology Registrar
Hello, I'm Kaylee, a Clinical Psychology Registrar and the director of Bird and Bear Psychology. I bring over 10 years of experience working in private practice, supporting people across a broad range of mental health concerns.
I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling heard, understood, and supported. Seeking therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, comfortable, and accepted from the moment you walk through the door.
My approach is warm, gentle, empathetic, and collaborative. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful and lasting change, so I take the time to get to know you, your experiences, and what is most important to you.
Together, we'll explore the challenges you're facing, gently challenge unhelpful patterns where appropriate, and develop practical, achievable goals that reflect what matters most to you. Therapy isn't about changing who you are—it's about helping you build the skills, confidence, and insight to live the life you want.
Outside of the therapy room, you'll often find me spending time outdoors, tending to my garden, reading a good book, exercising, travelling, or enjoying a board game or puzzle. I also cherish spending time with my family and my much-loved fur baby.
I know that beginning therapy can feel daunting. My hope is that Bird and Bear Psychology is a place where you feel genuinely listened to, supported, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change - at a pace that feels right for you.

Medicare Rebates
Eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and GP referral can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. If you'd like to access these rebates, speak with your GP about whether a Mental Health Care Plan is appropriate for you. The current rebate is $101.55

If you have extras cover for psychology, you may be able to claim a rebate through your private health fund. Rebate amounts and eligibility vary between funds and policies, so we recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm your level of cover. Please note that private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed for sessions where a Medicare rebate is being used.
